Custom & wholesale

Made for homes, tables, and businesses.

Custom work can be a single piece, a dinnerware set, or a larger production run. I work directly with individuals, chefs, cafés, breweries, restaurants, and other businesses to develop functional ceramics for the way they will actually be used.

With highly reactive glazes, exact duplication may not be possible, but we can work toward the same palette, character, and overall feeling. Handmade variation is part of the work.

Custom and retail requests

For individuals, this can include a single vessel, a gift, a coordinated set of mugs, or dinnerware made around your table and daily routines.

Restaurant and wholesale projects

For chefs and businesses, we can develop a family of forms, test scale and glaze direction, then plan a small or larger production run. Wholesale pricing is quoted privately based on the project.

How the process works

Begin with an inquiry describing the pieces, approximate quantity, intended use, preferred timing, and any visual direction. I will reply with questions, feasibility, an estimated timeline, and the next step.

Something made for you

Custom work can begin with a specific piece, a function, a memory, or simply an idea you want to explore.

You do not need to come to me with a finished design. We can work through the form, size, glaze, and details together, using past work as a reference when it helps without trying to make an exact copy.

I take on individual pieces, small collections, personal commissions, and projects for businesses.

The objects we use most are often the simplest.

A comfortable handle, the right weight, a size that fits the way you drink, or a glaze you want to see every morning can be enough to build a piece around.

A commission can be one favorite cup or a small group of pieces that relate to each other without needing to be identical.

For the table and home

Some commissions begin with a practical need. Others begin with a form, color, or surface that someone connects with.

I make teapots, serving bowls, vases, lidded forms, and other functional pieces. We can start from something I have made before or develop a new form around how and where you want to use it.

A collection should feel connected without losing the individuality of the pieces inside it.

I have made mugs for breweries, cups for cafés, candle vessels for small brands, and other ceramic work built around a specific business or use.

For larger projects, I like understanding where the work is going, how it will be handled, and what it needs to do before we settle on the final form and surface.

If you are developing restaurant tableware specifically, JP Dinnerware goes deeper into that process.

Larger vessels

Larger jars and vases give form and surface more room to develop.

Tell me where you imagine the piece living, roughly how large it should be, and what you are drawn to. We can work from an earlier piece or build something new around the space.

Memorial pieces

A personal way to remember

Memorial work is some of the most personal pottery I make.

I first explored this kind of work while making a memorial piece for my grandmother, and that experience continues to shape the care I bring to these commissions.

An urn, a vase, or another form can be developed around the person or pet being remembered. We can talk through the shape, color, scale, and details together so the finished piece feels appropriate to you.

The piece shown here is a two part urn. The lower vessel holds the ashes, while the upper piece can be used separately as a vase for flowers.

If incorporating a small amount of ashes into the clay itself feels meaningful, we can discuss that privately.

Start with an idea

Tell me what you have in mind, how the piece will be used, and how many you need. Photos, dimensions, a budget, and a date are helpful, but you do not need to have everything figured out.

We will work through the form, size, glaze, and personal details together. Each project is quoted individually, and I will confirm the price and estimated timeline before I begin.

I throw, trim, glaze, and fire the work myself. Clay and glaze naturally vary, so each piece will have its own subtle differences.

Project highlight

Merenda Wine.

Selected ceramic pieces for Merenda Wine.

Over several projects, I made many of the plates and serving pieces used at Merenda Wine in South Oceanside. The photographs show the restaurant’s table as a whole, so not every ceramic piece pictured is my work.

My work focused on wheel-thrown forms developed for the restaurant’s food, service, and daily use—functional pieces designed to feel cohesive while still unmistakably handmade.
